M4A3E8 SHERMAN EASY EIGHT PLATOON

M4A3E8 'Easy Eight' Sherman – 1/56 Scale Model Kit (Warlord Games – Bolt Action)

Initially designated as the M4A3(76)W HVSS and later shortened to M4A3E8, this medium tank was affectionately nicknamed the "Easy Eight" by U.S. soldiers. It featured several improvements over earlier Sherman versions, such as the Horizontal Volute Suspension System (HVSS), wider tracks for better off-road performance, a welded hull for increased protection, and the powerful 76mm M1A2 main gun that rivalled German firepower.

The first Easy Eights saw action in December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. While its gun was effective against medium German tanks, it still needed to target the rear armour of heavier vehicles.

Over 2,500 units were produced during WWII, and the design was so successful it continued to be used in the Korean War and even into Vietnam.
